Ingredients

Frosting Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Using quality butter, like Plugra or Kerrygold, enhances flavor. Always choose unsalted.
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar Use organic powdered sugar for a smoother texture. Start with three cups and adjust to taste.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract gives a more robust flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream Heavy cream adds richness; whole milk can be used for a lighter option.
  • a pinch salt Elevates sweetness and enhances overall flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly for about 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
  2. Remove from heat and cool the butter for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, sift together 3 cups of powdered sugar and the pinch of salt.
  4. Pour the slightly cooled browned butter into the bowl of powdered sugar, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix with a hand mixer on medium speed until the frosting comes together, adding milk or cream as needed for consistency.
  6. Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or bars.

Notes
