Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, combine the eggs and sugar. Using a hand mixer, whisk until pale and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Gradually pour in the milk, oil, and vanilla, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until no flour streaks remain.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Soaking & Serving
- In a bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream until well combined.
- Poke holes in the cooled cake using a fork or skewer. Pour the milk mixture over the cake.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Slice and serve chilled, optionally topping with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Notes
Ensure you poke enough holes for the milk infusion to seep thoroughly into the cake.
