  • 4 fillets salmon fillets (5 to 6 oz each, skin on or off) Choose wild-caught salmon for optimal flavor.
Flavor Boosters
  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil Extra virgin olive oil is preferred.
  • 1.25 tsp kosher salt Coarse sea salt is recommended.
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper Freshly cracked for better flavor.
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder Adds aromatic quality.
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika Brings depth and smokiness.
Zesty Herb Drizzle
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil Use high-quality oil for best flavor.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 1 tsp lemon zest Adds citrusy brightness.
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill and/or parsley Can mix herbs for variety.
  • 0.125 tsp kosher salt A pinch enhances the drizzle.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). Clean and oil the grill grates.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. Combine kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl, and season the salmon fillets.
Grilling
  1. For skin-on fillets, grill skin side down for 6-8 minutes without moving. For skinless fillets, grill for 4-5 minutes per side.
Herb Drizzle (Optional)
  1. Mix extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped herbs, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
Serving
  1. Remove salmon from grill, let rest for a couple of minutes, serve with herb drizzle.

Notes

Ensure salmon is at room temperature before grilling. Use a kitchen thermometer to check for doneness (145°F). Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days, refrigerate in an airtight container.
