Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 1/2 tsp yeast (Active dry or instant yeast) I prefer instant for its ease of use.
  • 1 cup warm water (110F) Make sure it’s warm enough to activate the yeast.
  • 2 tbsp sugar Granulated sugar is ideal for activating yeast.
  • 2 tbsp oil Vegetable or canola for a neutral flavor.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour You can substitute whole wheat for a healthier option.
  • 3/4 tsp salt Balance the sweetness from the dough.
For the Filling and Topping
  • 12 pieces hot dogs Choose your favorite brand.
  • 1 piece egg For a golden color when baked.
  • 1 1/2 tbsp milk Dairy or non-dairy alternatives work.
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds For crunch and flavor.

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Pat each hot dog dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine warm water with the yeast and let it sit for about 1 minute until foamy.
Mix Ingredients
  1. Pour the foamy yeast mixture into a large mixing bowl, add sugar and oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Add 2 cups of flour and salt, mixing until you have a shaggy dough.
  3. Gradually incorporate the remaining flour while kneading for about 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let It Rise
  1. Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Shape the Pigs in a Blanket
  1. Preheat the oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions, roll each portion into a thin strip about 8 inches long, and wrap around a hot dog.
Egg Wash Time
  1. Whisk together the egg and milk and brush the mixture over the wrapped hot dogs, then sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

These can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for a week. Freeze for up to 3 months; reheat in the oven or microwave.
