Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Salmon fillets Wild-caught if possible; look for vibrant, firm flesh
  • 2 tablespoons High-quality olive oil Extra virgin for drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh herbs Like dill, parsley, or cilantro; fresh is always better than dried
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced or powder; adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice Freshly squeezed for brightness
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Kosher salt is recommended for its texture and balanced flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper Freshly ground to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Room temperature, unsalted for better control over salt levels
  • optional Marinades or glazes Consider soy sauce, honey, or mustard

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over, letting them hang out for about 15-20 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lay the marinated salmon on a lined baking sheet (skin-side down) and bake for about 12-15 minutes.
  3. Check that the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
Finishing Touch
  1. Consider finishing off under the broiler for the last 2-3 minutes for a crispy, caramelized top.

Notes

Tips: Choose center-cut fillets for even cooking and use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
