Ingredients

For the rice
  • 1 cup jasmine rice Choose long-grain jasmine rice for the best texture.
For the stir-fry
  • 1.5 tbsp sesame oil Canola oil may be used in a pinch.
  • 1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced (whites and greens separated) White parts are cooked for flavor, greens serve as garnish.
  • 3 cloves garlic, freshly minced Avoid pre-minced options for better flavor.
  • 1 lb ground turkey Opt for lean for a healthier option.
  • 2.5 tbsp chili sauce Sriracha or Sambal Oelek are great options.
  • 2.5 tbsp hoisin sauce Essential for achieving that sweet and savory element.
  • 1.5 tsp fresh ginger, grated Fresh ginger enhances flavor.
  • 1 lb green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces Can be replaced with broccoli or snap peas.
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce Low-sodium is recommended.
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar Adds a tangy kick that balances flavors.

Method

Cook the Rice
  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 cup jasmine rice and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15-18 minutes until fluffy.
Prep Your Veggies
  1. While the rice is cooking, mince the 3 cloves of garlic, slice the green onions (separating whites and greens), and trim the green beans.
Heat the Skillet
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1.5 tbsp sesame oil until it shimmers. Add the white parts of green onions and minced garlic, cooking for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
Brown the Turkey
  1. Add the 1 lb ground turkey to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it apart and cook for 3-5 minutes until browned.
Add Flavor
  1. Stir in 2.5 tbsp chili sauce, 2.5 tbsp hoisin sauce, 1.5 tsp grated ginger, and the green beans. Simmer for 7-9 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finishing Touches
  1. Remove from heat, stir in 1 tbsp rice vinegar, and let it sit for a minute.
Serve
  1. Divide the fluffy rice among bowls, top with the turkey and green bean mixture, and garnish with the reserved green onion greens.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best flavor. Don’t overcook the green beans and feel free to adjust spice levels as needed. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
