Ingredients

For the Dressing
  • 2.25 cups mayonnaise Hellmann's or Duke's recommended for best texture.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can substitute with milk mixed with a tablespoon of vinegar.
  • 2 tbsp sugar Adjust to preference; honey works as a healthier option.
  • 1.5 tsp celery seed A must for that classic flavor!
  • 0.75 tsp black pepper Freshly cracked gives the best flavor.
  • 0.25 tsp salt Sea salt is recommended for the best taste.
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar High-quality brands like Bragg’s add extra zing.
For the Coleslaw
  • 32 oz coleslaw mix Use pre-packaged or freshly chopped cabbage and carrots.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, buttermilk, sugar, apple cider vinegar, celery seed, salt, and black pepper. Use a whisk to blend together until smooth and fully incorporated.
  2. Add the coleslaw mix to the dressing. Gently toss until everything is coated evenly.
  3. Transfer the coleslaw to a serving bowl and cover tightly. Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for the best flavor.

Notes

Ensure mayonnaise is at room temperature for easier mixing. For lighter options, substitute part of the mayo with Greek yogurt.
