Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Use high-quality unsalted butter for the richest flavor. Ensure it’s melted but cooled slightly.
  • 2 cups sugar Granulated sugar works best for this recipe, helping to create that fudgy texture.
  • 4 large eggs Add one at a time to incorporate air into the batter.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Feel free to swap in gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Use Dutch-processed for a deeper chocolate flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder Check if fresh for best results.
For Toppings
  • Colorful pastel candies (like M&Ms or chocolate eggs) Use for decorating on top.
  • Frosting Optional for decoration.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder, ensuring no lumps remain.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake the brownies for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  2. Let brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
Decoration
  1. Once cooled, top with colorful candies and pipe frosting as desired.
  2. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For maximum fudginess, under bake slightly. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
